The homeowner, a dedicated home chef, commissioned Lodhi Interiors to replace an awkward builder-grade kitchen with a commercial-grade culinary studio. The brief demanded separate zones for intense tadka cooking and high-end entertaining, with a generous preparation island, a concealed walk-in larder, and zero moisture degradation from Bhopal's humid monsoon seasons.
The Spatial Idea
We resolved the traditional tension between social entertaining and aromatic Indian cooking by engineering a dual-zone architectural layout. The forward pavilion features an expansive monolithic quartz island, fluted oak breakfast counter, and integrated induction hobs bathed in natural morning light. Behind a set of flush fluted-glass pocket doors lies a secondary heavy-prep scullery with a dedicated 1400 m3/hr industrial centrifugal exhaust hood. Carcasses are constructed from 100% boiling-water-proof (IS 710) marine plywood, edged with 2mm laser-welded PUR banding to eliminate water ingress. Motion is governed entirely by Austrian Blum Servo-Drive electronic opening mechanisms, allowing touch-free drawer access while handling culinary ingredients.
Material Palette & Finishes
Built without compromise using certified marine-grade cores, non-porous quartz surfaces, and precision Austrian lift mechanics rated for 200,000 continuous opening cycles.

Spatial Strategy
The kitchen is divided into an open social gallery with prep island and a concealed wet scullery. This separation allows hosts to cook comfortably in front of guests while containing steam, intense spices, and wash-up clutter behind sound-dampened pocket doors.
Challenges & Decisions
Honest structural, material, and logistical constraints encountered on site in Bhopal, and how our team resolved them.
Diamond core-cutting through a pre-stressed structural lintel was prohibited by structural engineering review.
Re-routed the 8-inch rigid stainless ducting horizontally through a custom exterior soffit plenum, avoiding all structural load beams and minimizing acoustic fan back-pressure.
Extreme thermal and moisture exposure causing warpage in conventional particleboard modular carcasses.
Mandated 100% calibrated 18mm boiling-water-proof (IS 710) marine ply carcasses with waterproof PUR hot-melt edge sealing, providing absolute resistance to tropical humidity.
On-Site Execution & Sequencing
Built, wired, and plumbed by Lodhi Interiors turnkey site technicians. Plumbing lines were pressure-tested to 6 bar before cabinetry installation to guarantee zero concealed wall leaks.

Re-engineered layout quadrupled preparation surface area and eliminated cooking fume migration.

Delivered Outcome
The culinary studio functions with commercial precision while presenting the quiet aesthetic of an architectural gallery. All cooking aromas are evacuated within 45 seconds, and drawers operate smoothly under 65kg heavy cast-iron loads.
“The joinery quality is incomparable to local modular showrooms. Every drawer glides effortlessly under full cookware weight, and the concealed pantry has transformed our daily cooking routine.”Kavita M. — Bawadiya Kalan, modular kitchen
